This novel was the first book MJ Kazmierski ever wrote, after being exiled from Poland to England in 1984 and beginning to study in London. During his literature studies at Sussex University, Strawberry Hill, West London, he realized he wanted to be a writer, influenced by the likes of William Shakespeare, William Blake, Anton Chekhov, Joseph Conrad, Mark Twain, Jan Brzechwa, Jack Kerouac, Sam Shepard and Margaret Attwood. He began writing it in Peacehaven, Sussex, England in 1995 and completed the first draft of this novel in 2000. MJ Kazmierski was 27 years old at the time. The novel as you see it here has not been changed since that time. It is inspired by his experiences of moving to England from Poland in the 1980s and studying at all boys and all girls schools in West London, where he learned to speak and write English. All the places in it are real and existed 30 years ago – any likeness to persons alive or dead is accidental and not intended. The novel is dedicated to a certain girl MJ fell in love with at 16 while studying Sociology and English Lit with her at Gumley House Convent School for Girls. Not a day has gone by since then that he has not thought about her with undying love and affection. Her bookish home and shop in Chiswick, London will be sacred to him until the day his body dies and his mind reenters the infinite quantum realm...
